Topical Minoxidil often has the preservative Propylene Glycol (PG), which is antifreeze. This harsh preservative is a very common source of allergic dermatitis, leading to rashes. Blends™ topicals are PG free to avoid this common adverse effect. Minoxidil pills at low dosages are tolerated very well for the majority of individuals. The most common side effects of oral minoxidil are hypertrichosis, or increased body hair, and swelling in the ankles. These side effects are dose dependent and are greatly reduced with the Low Dose Oral Minoxidil (LDOM) dose of 1mg used for men, and the Very Low Dose Oral Minoxidil (VLDOM) dose of 0.25mg used for women. Such adverse effects are expected to subside upon discontinuation of the medication.
