Tretinoin is a prescription form of vitamin A. At higher concentrations it is used to decrease wrinkles by encouraging new skin formation and peeling of superficial skin. At lower concentrations, as with Blends™ products, it is used to increase the scalp permeability to allow our active ingredients to get better access to the hair follicles below. The hair follicles are around 5-7mm under the skin, and without tretinoin, topical products are less effective. You can think of the tretinoin as the shuttle that takes the rest of the active ingredients down to the hair follicles where they can provide the greatest benefit.
